Planning routes around Naxos
If you stay in Naxos Town, the west-coast beaches are the easiest to reach. Agios Georgios is next to town, while Agios Prokopios, Agia Anna and Plaka are simple choices for a beach day with restaurants and services nearby.
For a village route, many visitors combine Chalki, Filoti and Apeiranthos. This gives a good view of inland Naxos and can be combined with a stop at mountain viewpoints or local tavernas.
For a longer day trip, continue toward Apollonas in the north or Moutsouna on the east coast. These routes show a quieter and more rugged side of the island, but they also involve longer driving distances.
Frequently asked questions about Naxos maps
Do I need a car in Naxos?
You can visit Naxos Town and several west-coast beaches by bus in summer, but a car or bike gives much more flexibility for mountain villages, remote beaches and the east coast.
Which side of Naxos has the best beaches?
The west and southwest coast has the most popular sandy beaches, including Agios Georgios, Agios Prokopios, Agia Anna, Plaka, Mikri Vigla and Kastraki.
Is Naxos easy to drive around?
Main routes are generally straightforward, but Naxos is mountainous and some roads are narrow or winding. Allow more time than the map distance suggests, especially for village and east-coast routes.
